Question

Consider the following statements about the Constitution of India: 1. No Article specifies the Constitution will be called 'Constitution of India'. 2. No Article specifies the Indian Independence Act, 1947 and Government of India Act, 1935 stand repealed. 3. No Article mentions 26th January, 1950 as the date of commencement.

Accepted Answer

All three statements are incorrect. Article 393 specifies the short title "Constitution of India." Article 395 explicitly repeals the Indian Independence Act, 1947 and Government of India Act, 1935. Article 394 explicitly states the remaining provisions shall come into force "on the twenty-sixth day of January, 1950." None of the three statements are correct.
