Question

Which of the following items of defence hardware is/are manufactured in India? 1. Su-30 MKI Fighter Jets. 2. T-90 MK-III Tanks. 3. Akula Class Submarine.

Accepted Answer

Su-30 MKI jets are manufactured by HAL at Nashik under a license from Russia's Sukhoi (60%+ indigenous content). T-90 MK-III Tanks (Bhishma) are produced by AVNL at Heavy Vehicles Factory, Avadi, Tamil Nadu, under a Russian license. The Akula Class submarine is NOT manufactured in India — it is a Russian-built nuclear-powered attack submarine that India has only leased.
