Which of the following factors contributed to the formation of the Forward Bloc by Subhas Chandra Bo

Question

Which of the following factors contributed to the formation of the Forward Bloc by Subhas Chandra Bose in 1939? 1. Bose failed to win Gandhi's confidence. 2. The Congress Left was disunited and failed to support Bose. 3. The Communists did not support Bose. 4. Supporters of M.N. Roy and Jayaprakash Narayan preferred Congress unity over supporting Bose.

Accepted Answer

Statements 1, 2, and 4 are correct. Gandhi declared Bose's re-election as his own defeat; the Congress Left was fragmented; M.N. Roy supporters and Jayaprakash Narayan's socialists abstained rather than back Bose at the Tripuri Crisis. Statement 3 is not a direct factor — Communist stance was about maintaining unity under Gandhi, not direct opposition to Bose.
