Janani Suraksha Yojana (JSY) is an intervention program for pregnant women and new mothers. It was launched in the year 2005 by India’s then Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh. The Janani Suraksha Yojana is sponsored by the Central Government of India and is implemented in all the states and the union territories of the country with special attention to low performing states.Accredited Social Health Activist (ASHA) closely works with the JSY scheme and acts as a medium between the government and the poor pregnant women in low performing states.
