Anaemia Mukt Bharat is a public health scheme launched by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and UNICEF. This scheme aims to reduce anaemia in vulnerable sections of society, including women and children. Anaemia Mukt Bharat was first launched as National Nutritional Anaemia Prophylaxis Programme (NNAPP) in 1970 and relaunched in 2018 as part of the POSHAN Abhiyan through a 6X6X6 strategy including six target beneficiaries, six interventions and six institutional mechanisms for all stakeholders to implement the strategy. It focuses on six target beneficiary groups, through six interventions and six institutional mechanisms to achieve the envisaged target under the POSHAN Abhiyan.A key intervention is to give Prophylactic Iron and Folic Acid supplementation to children, adolescents and women of reproductive age and pregnant women irrespective of anemia, under Anaemia Mukt Bharat.
